TITLE: Brand Manager

 

POSITION SUMMARY

 

Bread Alone strives to communicate our core values to our employees and customers. To relay the underlying care for our community and for the earth that ultimately serves as the motivation for the bakery.

 

The Brand Manager is central to this communication. The successful candidate will embrace the challenge and opportunity to cut through the noise in media and marketing world, and use our core values to connect with our customers, employees, and community members.

 

With this guiding principle in mind, the Brand Manager is responsible for maintaining and building the Bread Alone brand across all its touch points. Key areas of responsibility include social media, wholesale support materials, marketing campaigns, retail support materials, retail signage, point-of-sale materials, and trade show materials and representation.

 

This is a varied and exciting job with lots of immediate responsibility, and also continued opportunity for growth over time.

 

This is a full-time job based out of our Certified Organic bakery in Lake Katrine, NY but allows for up to 20% remote work. The role works closely with the Bread Alone sales, production, retail, and admin teams.

 

This role reports to the Bread Alone VP, but the successful candidate will be a self-starter that brings their opinions, perspective, and motivation to every meeting and opportunity.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Regularly post on-brand content to Instagram, Facebook, and Bread Alone blog
  • Maintain up-to-date branded materials to support wholesale business, such as product catalogue, business sustainability updates, and new product announcements
  • Maintain up-to-date branded materials to support our retail business, such as food menus and product signs
  • Create materials and campaigns to promote and support key initiatives, such as sustainability announcements
  • Create regular mailers to Bread Alone distribution lists via mailchimp and maintain associated contacts databases
  • Develop and implement brand-building opportunities through marketing campaigns, social media campaigns, and co-branded events and partnerships
  • Complete in-house photography for social media, branding campaigns, and retail and wholesale efforts
  • Manage Bread Alone in-kind and monetary donations to non-profits and community organizations
  • Help establish and maintain community partnership with appropriate organizations in the community, such as complementary food businesses, and food- and environment-related non-profits
  • Stay educated on issues related to organic food industry, sustainable agriculture, and climate change, and ensure that Bread Alone is positioned as industry thought leader
  • Visit Bread Alone retailers, other food businesses, and branded companies in other industries to continually bring new ideas to Bread Alone
  • Work with Bread Alone graphic designer on product packaging and other campaigns as appropriate
  • Update Bread Alone website as needed
 

COMPENSATION

  • Annual Salary: $42k - $65k, commensurate with experience
  • Annual Performance Bonus: Participation in annual Bread Alone bonus program
  • Performance and Salary Review: Annual review every January


PAID TIME OFF AND OTHER BENEFITS

 
  • Annual PTO: 10 days PTO after 90 days employment. 15 days PTO after 3 years employment, then accruing 1 additional day each year up to total of 20 days PTO.
  • Wellness Time: 5 days annual wellness time for self- and family-care
  • Holidays: The Bread Alone office is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New Years Day, and Independence Day. The Bread Alone office closes at 2pm on Memorial Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving Eve, and Christmas Eve.

  • Flexible Work: Up to 1 day per week assuming all business needs are being met
 

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • 2-5 years experience in branding, marketing, and community management
  • Experience with key social media platforms such as instagram, facebook, mailchimp
  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator, Indesign, and Photoshop
  • Experience with microsoft suite (word, excel) and google suite (drive, docs)
  • Interest in organic and natural foods, and environmental sustainability
  • Experience with Squarespace and web development preferred
  • Prior food industry experience preferred
  • Prior food or general industry expo experience preferred
  • Comfort standing for long periods of time
  • Willingness to be flexible with schedule
  • Willingness to work weekends for select events
