Job descriptionSummary
Breeze is seeking an Operations Manager who will collaborate with the Management Team to establish, and execute measurable production and cultural goals to support Breeze’s mission and business objectives. This an opportunity to be a part of an early stage company with the opportunity to grow with the company as it scales. This team member will have the opportunity to shape and deliver on the vision and strategy of Breeze, while being a key part of the founding team.
The Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing food preparation, monitoring business performance and will have the opportunity to contribute to the growth of an early stage startup. This position is responsible for day-to-day supervision of hourly operations associates, monitoring business performance, coaching and developing associates, spearheading growth initiatives, and performing all other responsibilities as directed by their manager. This is an exempt position reporting directly to the Head of Operations.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities Include:
Operations management and food production oversight:
- Supervises the day-to-day activities of non-exempt operations associates in an airport kitchen environment
- Oversees the preparation of daily orders, ensures units are stocked with appropriate levels of product and coaches F&B associates on order procedures
- Prepares schedules to ensure that all shifts are covered to meet business goals and quality standards
- Ensures units are stocked with appropriate levels of product and communicates inventory issues to Breeze leadership team
- Understands all employee positions well enough to perform duties in employees' absence
- Maintains an in-depth understanding of all federal, state, and local sanitary, safety, and health standards, and ensures that all procedures and protocols comply with the law
- Supports the implementation and administration of all quality and food safety programs (Quality Programs include Sanitation, Vendor Certification, Incoming Good Inspection, HACCP, Pest control, GMPs, Noncompliance/Hold)
- Observes employees during production to ensure that all USDA & FDA regulations are met
- Participates in recruitment and staff selection process
- Interviews job candidates, provides recommendations for hiring, terminations, advancement, promotion or any other status change of associates
- Conducts and coordinates on-the-job training for associates, and ensures all associates receive skills training to perform their jobs
- Maintains an in-depth understanding of all federal, state, and local sanitary, safety, and health standards, and ensures that all procedures and protocols comply with the law
- Supports the implementation and administration of all quality and food safety programs (Quality Programs include Sanitation, Vendor Certification, Incoming Good Inspection, HACCP, Pest control, GMPs, Noncompliance/Hold)
- Observes employees during production to ensure that all USDA & FDA regulations are met
- Demonstrates team management, delegation, and issue resolution skills
- Maintains a productive, positive, and motivated workforce to generate excitement and teamwork among employees to drive accountability
- Models, supports, and ensures compliance to operational standards, company culture, beliefs, and values
- Team player who is willing to step in and wear multiple hats
Requirements:
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience working in a high volume, manufacturing, food production, and restaurant or catering environment required. Experience within an airport environment is a plus
- Minimum of 2 years cook or food production or preparation experience required.
- Experience with union labor laws is a plus
Other Requirements / Skills
- Must have strong and effective leadership skills, and the ability to successfully manage a staff of ~10 hourly employees.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks at once
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Strong organizational, analytical, communication and leadership skills required.
- Intermediate level of MS Office and Google Sheets
- Experience with inventory management technology
- Ability to make timely and critical decisions
- Fluent in English
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
- ServSafe certification
Education: Bachelors from a 4-year university or college preferred.
