Company description Barnacle is an independent food producer based in Juneau, Alaska. We make small batch, shelf stable goods such as salsa, pickles and dried blends. Inspired by the seasonal surplus of renewable coastal Alaskan ingredients and the joy that comes from sharing these foods with the world, we set out to create products that showcase and preserve the essence of Alaska - with an added bonus of nutrition and delicious flavors. Today, Barnacle keeps the value chain as close to home as possible by producing all of the products in-house in Juneau, Alaska. Barnacle is seeking a creative, highly motivated individual to plan, implement, and execute strategies to grow its customer base, increase retention, and generate buzz. This position will work with a variety of functional areas across the business and require excellent interpersonal skills and creative problem solving skills. This is a unique opportunity for someone with a background in marketing to put their expertise into practice and expand their portfolio. The position involves travel to our key markets in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. The ideal candidate is based in Portland, Seattle, or Juneau. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and implement comprehensive marketing campaigns and help drive campaign strategy
  • Manage and regularly update all social media accounts, actively engaging with the community
  • Oversee digital advertising, boosted posts, and paid campaigns (Facebook, Instagram, Google AdWords)
  • Refresh website on a regular basis with new images and content
  • Generate regular customer communications (e.g., newsletters, promotional emails)
  • Interact with customers face to face and represent brand through on-site demoing
  • Build relationships with social media influencers
  • Respond to inbound leads and follow up with wholesale accounts for reorders
  • Establish targeted social media and on the ground presence in new markets
  • Schedule and coordinate demos in new markets
  • Design, create and manage inventory of marketing materials
  • Create and maintain a coordinated marketing campaign calendar
  • Manage marketing budget


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Marketing experience managing campaigns designed to drive traffic and conversion
  • Experience with Instagram, Facebook ads, Google AdWords, Twitter, Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Experience with keyword research, SEO strategy, web analytics, on-site and off-site optimization, SEM, A/B testing, and competitive SERP analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communications
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks independently and thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment
  • Detail oriented and work well under deadlines
  • Proactive problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Interest in food, sustainability, and storytelling is a plus
