At Raaka, we make unroasted dark chocolate. We love sharing the bold, fruity, and tangy flavors present in unroasted cocoa beans. We make uncommonly delicious chocolate from scratch, bringing the best out of single origin cocoa through creative craft and whole food ingredients. Since 2010, we’ve been introducing people to a new taste of chocolate, offering bars with Tanzanian cocoa nibs aged in bourbon casks, steaming over simmering wine, and bars made with both classic and unusual pairings like mushrooms, smoked teas, vegetables, and spices. We purchase fine flavor cacao directly from cooperatives and farms across the world, and we make everything from bean-to-bar at our factory in Red Hook, Brooklyn. No one makes chocolate like we do, and we’re always looking to make people think deeply and differently about the chocolate they eat.

We're a team of fifteen people committed to making delicious and unique chocolate and doing so in ways that maximize positive social and environmental impact. We proudly source high-quality cacao through a direct trade model that supports healthy communities and sustainability.

Our chocolate showcases the variety of cacao beans we work with and the unconventional and inventive ways we develop their flavors. At our Red Hook factory, we age cacao nibs in bourbon casks, steam them over simmering wine, and infuse them with whole foods, teas, herbs, and spices. In 6 years, we’ve grown organically from making chocolate in an apartment to sell at a farmer's market into a national brand operating out of a 4,000 square foot production facility.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We're looking for a friendly chocolate enthusiast who is comfortable speaking about food and excited to host in-store demonstrations of our handcrafted chocolate at Whole Foods Markets.

Enthusiast's Responsibilities:

Each demo is 3 - 4 hours and the rate is $20 per hour. If you are required to travel over 40+ miles in either direction, we pay an additional $20.  You must be able to service at least 3 high volume Whole Foods Markets and go to assigned locations with equipment (table, samples, literature). During the demoing period you will talk with customers about our chocolate, mission and flavors while being cheerful, friendly, approachable and engaging. Please make sure to talk to as many store team members & buyers on the floor so they are familiar with our product as well! Once your demo is complete, you must break down the display, take inventory of bars left and check out with Customer Service. You will also be responsible for sending a brief demo report to your manager at Raaka.

You:

* Friendly, outgoing, eloquent, sincere, approachable

* MUST BE technologically proficient (Google forms, Google Calendar, booking portal, email, photo uploads)

* Sales Oriented; able to close the deal

* Passionate about what we do! (Artisan foods, ethical sourcing of ingredients, environmentalism, community building)

* Able to do at least 4-10 demos per month per demo period (Feb, May, Sept, Nov).

* Self-motivated

* Always on time

* Flexible in scheduling

* Have a car / be able to transport a table if the store requires it

* Guarantee a cool / dry / scent free place to store chocolate samples at your home.

COMPENSATION this position is PAID: hourly, $20ph 3 hours or more
