Job description

You are:

A passionate storyteller, detail-oriented and a superior writer. No task is too small for you, and you are skilled in proper time management. You are genuinely excited about travel, food, beverage and hospitality, in the Bay Area and beyond. You have started to develop relationships with restaurant, travel and food industry media and keep up with the latest industry news for fun. You know that you want to have a career in public relations and would like to continue developing the necessary tools and confidence to be a public relations professional. We want you to grow with us.
 

The Role:

  • Tells the stories of our clients in creative ways
  • Writes media alerts, press releases, pitches, press kit materials, etc.
  • Maintains all client press kits
  • Monitors and responds to HARO inquiries
  • Creates Coveragebook clip reports
  • Supports new business outreach
  • Tracks and pitches editorial calendar opportunities
  • Provides support to all team members including, but not limited to: taking and distributing notes from client calls and meetings, researching and creating media lists, scheduling meetings and calls, managing event guest lists, and assisting with special projects

 
You must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, English, or similar discipline
  • One year of experience in consumer/lifestyle public relations or marketing (including internships)
  • Microsoft Office and iWork experience (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Keynote)
  • Impeccable written and verbal communication skills (English)
  • Valid California driver’s license
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends on occasion (attending client events, media dinners, broadcast interviews, photo shoots, etc.)
  • Easy access to insured vehicle for team and client meetings and events across Northern California (can be a rental car)
  • Strong analytical skills for measuring and tracking success
  • An open mind and ability to think creatively
  • A very strong work ethic and excellent time management skills
  • Can work from home with ease

  • A portfolio of secured local and national media coverage
  • Videography and video editing skills
  • An interest in cooking
  • Knowledge of virtual productivity platforms (Slack, Asana, Zoom, etc.)
  • Experience with Cision, Wordpress, Coveragebook and/or Mailchimp
