Company description Wild Mountain Seeds is a vegetable and vegetable seed farm located at Sunfire Ranch in Carbondale, CO.  We are focused on producing the highest quality produce and seed using minimal tillage and permaculture techniques.  Wild Mountain Seeds is heavily focused on research and seed breeding where we are creating vegetable seed that is vigorous, adaptable and unique. Wild Mountain Seeds is committed to research as we work to create innovative techniques that make small scale farming easier.  Learn more about the farm at wildmountainseeds.com   Internship description Learn all we know about running a permaculture oriented market garden and seed company: planting, nursery work, irrigating, seed saving and breeding, harvest/post harvest, marketing/farmers market, setting up study trials, crop planning, polyculture design, building, greenhouse design, intercropping, compost tea making, soil fertility management, ducks, food preservation among other things. Vegetable production with soil health as the number one priority.

Our goal is to provide interns/apprentices with a fun, educational experience . We want everyone to leave with a love for farming and the tools necessary to pursue a career of nurturing the land. You will work as part of a team as we share ideas, perfect our existing techniques and develop new ones. You will participate in everything necessary to grow and market vegetables and specialty seeds.

We seek intelligent, dependable, creative, fun people! No previous knowledge necessary, but some is helpful. We are looking for someone who desires to work hard in a fun environment with an open mind. We learn from each other while providing exceptionally healthy food to our customers. Our top priorities are research, seed breeding, and developing innovative systems, so expect an experience in a cutting-edge permaculture oriented market farm. An 'up to any task' attitude is a must and compassion for everyone involved in the operation is essential! This year we are looking for 3 apprentices for spring (March-July) and 2 apprentices  who will continue on for the entire season (July-November). We desire applicants who want to be farmers and can guarantee commitment, and who see this opportunity as a stepping stone. Housing available and organic farm food provided for lunch and to use for all meals once season is in full swing. Compensation this position is : stipend / non-monetary compensation
