OBJECTIVE: Increase community involvement utilizing grassroots driven programs that directly address the challenges outlined in the Project Goals; the Americorps VISTA and FLV staff will continue to develop innovative programs and services that promote community cohesion, health and well-being that is sustained by utilizing and building on existing successful programs like the Higher Ground Fair. The Higher Ground Fair is a successful fundraiser for FLV along with the main objective of celebrating rural living in the Rocky Mountain Region. Further development of community (grassroots) advisory boards, campus partnerships and other community-based organizations.
Review and familiarize project goals of Higher Ground Fair in order to effectively contribute to assigned areas as well as assist FLV staff and other VISTAs. Collaborate with FLV staff in order to research and connect with relevant vendor and Higher Ground Fair participants for scheduling events, performances, activities and functions. Conduct ongoing outreach to vendors and the public to continue to support strong relationships with the community and promote High Ground Fair's vision for regional sustainability. Manage, organize and contribute to the collection of data and evaluation of Higher Ground Fair.
Help create information materials, policies and procedures for effective communication for the purposes of developing systems for expanding FLV's outreach and grassroots base.
VOLUNTEER MOBILIZATION: Establish and implement sustainable volunteer mobilization. This begins with research, data collection and analysis. Work closely with FLV staff in order to establish a formal volunteer orientation policy and procedures for both training and effective supervision of volunteers. Develop consistent and meaningful volunteer recognition.
BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION: Living allowance $472.22 biweekly; relocation allowance over 50 miles; Health coverage; paid holiday, vacation and sick leave; choice of $6095.08 Segal Education award or Cash Stipend $1803 but must complete 1 year of service; and (NCE) Non-competitive Eligibility Status for employment with Federal Government after 1 year of service.
