Position Objective: The Operations Manager has significant autonomy and requires a broad skill-set, including general management capability, attention to detail, "get-it-done" attitude, superior interpersonal skills and in-depth agricultural experience. Serving as an example for and coaching team members toward our core values is essential in this position.

 

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

The primary responsibility of this position is to efficiently manage the farm operations to ensure excellent customer and vendor satisfaction so the site is able to meet financial goals and objectives by: 

  • Working collaboratively with company leadership to a establish successful business model
  • Look for opportunities to network and expand the awareness of Strike Farms 
  • Provide analysis and information to team to help in decision making processes 
  • Where appropriate, represent Strike Farms in the marketplace and seek to expand our business. 
 

Provide oversight and leadership to all production and sales activities 

  • Work closely with Production Manager and Crew Leader to ensure production stays on schedule according to the business plan
  • Work closely with the Sales Manager and Wash/Pack Manager to ensure sales and quality are on track with business plan.
  • Support innovation in agronomic, equipment, and storage practices 
 

Provide general management leadership to the farming operation 

  • Help build team of full-time employees and manage/motivate all personnel 
  • Maintain P&L responsibility with significant focus on cost management 
  • Participate in budgeting and business planning process 
  • Manage purchasing of supplies, equipment, and inputs. 
 

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Grow and maintain positive landlord, customer, and community relations 
  • Serve as a positive representative to the community, land partners, and other local suppliers. 
  • Coordinate production, sales and harvest
  • Develop and implement business plans
  • Hiring and initial employee on-boarding/training
  • Oversees systems and works with managers to maintain and change as needed
  • Oversees and manages budget
  • Oversees all departments who are independently managing inventory and work flow
  • Oversees detailed recorded keeping of all departments

Qualifications

Required

  • Degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of five years of professional experience
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple projects
  • Adaptability to changing situations and have the ability to perform multiple tasks with multiple priorities 
  • Proficient in the use of Windows based computer programs (Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and a general aptitude with software systems 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including ability to train and work with operational personnel on the farm 
  • Superior organizational and project management skills and experience leading and managing people 

Preferred

  • Experience using Basecamp and Agsquared
  • Experience managing staff
  • Experience with irrigated Organic crop production and associated agronomic practices 
  • Bachelors of Science degree in an Ag related field 
 

Salary starts at 40,000 per year DOE - Benefits Package - Opportunity for Profit Sharing
