Caterer and Beyond Good Bowls LLC

  • Date Posted February 19, 2019
  • Location Durham, NC
  • Category Business / Culinary
  • Job type Business for sale
Company description
Good Bowls are here: Good food, with an even better story.

Good Bowls are locally-sourced, nutritious frozen meals designed to promote health for people, the community, and the planet while also tackling food insecurity. The idea was developed by Alice Ammerman, Professor of Nutrition at UNC-Chapel Hill and Director of the Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention. Ammerman and her team are building a company that promotes healthy food access for all and also supports local, sustainable agriculture.

Good Bowls recipes are based on the healthful Mediterranean diet, but add a unique twist of flavors from the Southern palette--emphasizing local sourthern produce like sweet potatoes, peppers, and greens.

Eat well while doing good.
Job description Opportunity: Build the Catering Arm of Triangle-based Startup Good Bowls

Good Bowls LLC is a social enterprise making locally-sourced, delicious and nutritious frozen meals that support health, our community, and the planet. Our pilot production round (2400 bowls sold via Weaver Street Markets, the Durham Co-op and 12 corner stores) received great feedback and positive press: www.unc.edu/discover/bringing-healthy-food-to-all-consumers.

We are building our catering capacity as we grow. As a venture founded by UNC Nutrition Faculty member Dr. Alice Ammerman, we receive many requests for catering on campus and beyond. We want to meet this demand and reach additional potential customers.

Consider joining us if you:

> Bring an entrepreneurial spirit to your work. You figure out complex problems, find a way to make it happen, and don’t mind a little ambiguity (or a lot).

> Know how to cook, pack, and deliver food following food safety regulations. Manage others in the kitchen skillfully as needed. Bonus points if you’re familiar with the PFAP kitchen: www.pfapnc.org.

> Are comfortable and creative with adapting recipes based on seasonally-available produce.

> Love interacting with customers. From the first phone call to event clean up, you’re professional, courteous, and tuned into feedback, good and bad. Like us, you know that responding to customer feedback is the lifeblood of a successful venture.

> Budget and manage numbers confidently. You’ll be buying food, scaling recipes, and tallying invoices.

> Are intrigued by the possibility of a high-potential startup. We have one compensated part-time employee (you’d be our second) and we have big dreams.

Compensation built into the catering jobs you work and generate. Call or email if you’re interested. More detail here.
