StarChefs is looking for a Senior Editor to oversee all our publishing and event programming efforts. This is your chance to manage a small, dynamic team to create a beautiful quarterly print magazine, scout for and help produce StarChefs Rising Stars Awards, and bring together 175 of the world’s most important industry leaders to present and cook at the International Chefs Congress. This is a dream of a job for someone with vision, industry contacts, and a get-it-done attitude.

 

The Role

  • Manage the editorial team, along with social media, design, and photo professionals
  • Drive editorial calendar and web publishing schedule
  • Lead production of four Rising Stars magazines per year, including assigning stories, writing, editing, and coordinating design and photo teams
  • Maintain brand voice across all channels and platforms
  • Travel and scout for culinary talent for Rising Stars Awards and the International Chefs Congress 10 to 12 weeks a year, interviewing and tasting with 250+ professionals annually
  • Program StarChefs International Chefs Congress, including driving ideation, chef talent selection and management, and editorial production for print (signage and collateral) and web
  • Coordinate closely with marketing and events professionals to bring editorial vision (and sponsor imperatives) to life
  • Work on-site at 15+ events per year
  • Propose ideas and lend editorial support to ongoing partner integrations and marketing campaigns
  • Help drive internal marketing, ticket sales, and event promotion
 

Requirements

  • Journalism degree and minimum five years working for a trade or consumer publication
  • Strong leadership and project management skills
  • Experience managing several direct reports
  • Deep knowledge of food and culinary industry
  • Unstoppable multitasker and problem solver
  • Wide open palate and mind (this is NOT a position for anyone with any—really any—dietary restrictions)
  • Programming and event experience
  • Obsession with spreadsheets and G-Drive organization
  • Time logged with a content management system
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Suite, in particular InDesign and Photoshop
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds

  • Extensive restaurant industry contacts
  • Culinary school degree and/or time working in restaurants
  • Food photography experience
Compensation this position is : salaried, varies DOE, $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 Application instructions
