Position Description

The Executive Director is the key management leader of the Washington State Cheesemakers Association (WASCA) a Washington nonprofit corporation doing business as a tax-exempt business league or trade association under Section 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code. This position is responsible for expanding and championing our thriving community of cheesemakers throughout the state and will be overseeing the administration, development, and strategic plan of the organization. The position reports directly to the Board of Directors and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

  1. Organization Mission and Strategy:
    • Responsible for implementation of WASCA’s programs that carry out the organization’s mission.
    • Responsible for the enhancement of WASCA’s image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic and private organizations.
  2. Financial Performance and Viability:
    • Develops resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization.
    • Responsible for fundraising and developing other resources necessary to support WASCA’s mission.
  3. Organization Operations:
    • Oversees and implements appropriate resources to ensure that the operations of the organization are successful.
  4. Board Governance:
    • Works with board in order to fulfill the organization mission.

 

Professional Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree and/or five or more years of senior nonprofit management experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Transparent and high integrity leadership; Strong public speaking ability
  • Cheese/dairy experience ideal-cheesemaker, cheese buyer, retail, etc.
  • Solid, hands-on, budget management skills
  • Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to nonprofit sector
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office suite and social media platforms
