We are looking for an experienced culinary and business leader to lead the vision and execution of our commissary kitchen that supplies fresh, nutritious and delicious meals to our retail stores. As Kitchen Manager, you will be directly responsible the culinary and business performance of the commissary kitchen and ensure that the kitchen delivers on our mission in a cost-effective manner.
 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Menu Creation – create delicious and appealing meals that reflect the diversity of the communities we serve and meet our nutritional standards to provide healthy options to our customers.
  • Personnel Management & Operational Leadership – you will oversee the kitchen operation and create a positive environment and ensure that the team is performing at a high level. Ensure that the kitchen maintains the highest standards for hygiene and food safety.
  • Cost Analysis – analyze recipes for cost-effectiveness and continuously look for ways to reduce costs. Work with the procurement team to find efficiencies in sourcing products, monitor labor budgets and facilities costs.
  • Business Development and Community Outreach – look for new opportunities to expand the impact of the kitchen operation including catering, diversified retail product offerings and other business opportunities. Represent Daily Table at community events to promote our mission of healthy, affordable nutrition for all.

 

Desired Background & Experience

  • Excited about Daily Table’s mission and commitment to affordable nutrition for all.
  • 5+ years of food production management experience, with sole responsibility for a commissary/kitchen required
  • Creative and comfortable with recipe creation for diverse cuisines and able to create healthy and delicious meals
  • Flexible, adaptable, customer-focused with a commitment to high standards of food, service and operation.
  • Excellence in interpersonal skills and comfort working with diverse backgrounds, skills and experience levels.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing high performing teams with an emphasis on training and coaching.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset; comfortable with ambiguity and change and growth in a start-up environment.
  • Computer literate; comfortable working with Office/Google Drive, and performing financial analyses and reporting. Understands the need to use numbers and information to inform decision making.
  • Flexible schedule; comfort and willingness to spend time where the operation needs attention which may include early mornings, evenings and weekends.
  • Must be able to perform physical demands, such as; standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50lbs
