Job Description

The Culinary Instructor will lead an eight-week pilot program by NAAM and inpartnership with Root. This person will share their expertise in the culinary arts with immigrants and refugees, 3 days a week, using an experiential education model. The goal of the program is to increase the capacity of clients to secure quality jobs in the food service industry. Shadowing opportunities and curriculum will be provided by Root.

Responsibilities

➢ Design and lead evening culinary classes three days a week (three hours each) for eight weeks. This includes but is not limited to developing learning outcomes and instruction for the eight week pilot.

➢ Utilize the ServSafe curriculum provided by Root to prepare clients for taking both passing ServSafe Food Handler & Allergen Awareness certifications.

➢ Record & provide ongoing feedback on the successes & challenges of the program to NAAM and Root Requirements

➢ Culinary degree/certification and/or a minimum of five years experience as a Chef

➢ Cultural competency and experience working with diverse populations

➢ Must be available two evenings during the week and one on the weekend

➢ Strong communication skills and the ability to foster others to learn; past experience with adult learners preferred

➢ ServSafe certification
