Organization Description:

Position Summary:

We are seeking a collaborative and effective leader to join our team to implement and continually develop clear and engaging communications with the LEAF community. The Communications and Operations Manager will build out meaningful ways for the public to engage in and support LEAF’s work. This new position will play a lead role in public outreach, event management, grants management, and organizational operations. The primary areas of responsibility include:

Communications and Development

  • Develop LEAF’s place in the community through building/maintaining effective collaborations with partners and seeking additional strategic relationships
  • Develop the organization’s marketing and communications to the LEAF community, donors and funders, and the general public
  • Collect and share stories of LEAF youth and the impact of the program with the community and funders
  • Take lead event management role in four significant events throughout the year
  • Work with the LEAF team to implement development and fundraising campaigns and initiatives to increase revenue yearly
  • Engage as a thought partner in the organization’s strategic growth by collaborating with and providing support to the Executive Director and staff team
  • Supervise and manage administrative projects by establishing timelines, big picture objectives, and working efficiently and effectively
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the LEAF office, including maintaining meeting schedules and calendars, supplies, and general inquiries

Most importantly,  we are seeking someone who will support LEAF’s mission and vision by radically seeing and honoring youth, their unique talents, and their capacity to affect change in the community

  • A skilled manager who is inclusive and intuitive, with experience coaching and inspiring others to do great things. You are comfortable working in an environment where solutions and support can come from all levels of the organization.
  • While you can be a fastidious project manager, you are also comfortable in bootstrapping a project from start to finish, creating a tactical plan and executing independently

Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communicator and presenter, creative thinker and team player; positive, enthusiastic presence with good public relations skills
  • Experience with graphic design and visual representation
  • Passionate about storytelling and developing simple but compelling messaging
  • 2+ years experience in event management, communications, or public outreach required
  • Relevant background in communications, marketing, development/fundraising, and/or community development
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in marketing, communications, community engagement or related field
  • Passion for sustainable food systems and positive youth development preferred

Site Location: LEAF Project Office, 64 East North St, Carlisle and LEAF Home Farm, 554 Warm Springs Road, Landisburg PA 17040 (location based on seasonal schedule)

Compensation: This is a full-time position beginning at $31,000 (commensurate increase with experience). This position has the benefit of some flexibility and discretion to adjust your work hours and location after the training period and as our seasonal schedule allows. Benefits include paid time off (80 hours accrued in the first year in addition to a winter break), healthcare reimbursement benefit, and discounted access to LEAF produce and products. A sign-on bonus for relocation assistance negotiable.
