Shepherd’s Way Farms sheep dairy produces award winning artisan sheep cheeses on our 43 acre Minnesota family farm. Located just outside Northfield, Minnesota and one hour south of Minneapolis, Shepherd’s Way is a pasture-based dairy with a focus on small farm life, holistic care for animals and land, and transforming quality milk into exceptional cheese.

Making cheese since 1998, Shepherd’s Way produces a variety of sheep milk cheeses including, fresh, bloomy rind, aged, blue, ricotta. Our cheeses are sold nationally and locally at specialty retailers and restaurants, and at two local farmers markets.

Job description

Cheesemaking Assistant (FT) is an essential member of our small farm team.  Working closely with our cheesemaker, the cheesemaking assistant has opportunities in all aspects of farmstead cheesemaking. 

Interesting, supportive workplace with varied responsibilities, including assisting in production, cheese tending, production cleanup and plant sanitation & maintenance, prepping cheese for orders & farmers markets, packing & shipping. Ensuring clean and safe production is a critical part of the job, with significant hands-on cleaning.
 

Ideal candidate will have a passion for cheese, be able to work well in a variety of environments and to maintain focus and a positive work atmosphere. The position also requires exceptional ability to prioritize and problem solve. Must be able to lift 50 pounds, adjust to shifting tasks and find deep satisfaction in a job well done. Previous experience in food industry helpful. 

Ongoing education and training provided.

 

Excellent work hours! Primarily Mon-Fri hours (daytime) with occasional Sat a.m hours. Compensation based on experience, We also provide paid time off and cheese!


Compensation this position is : hourly, varies DOE, $13.00 - $16.00 Application instructions
