Dulce Delight Productions is looking for a Pastry Chef to join our team for the 5th season of our cooking TV show Rainha da Cocada, all filmed in NYC for Brazilian cable channel GNT, part of the largest network in Latin America (Globosat).
The Pastry Chef will be responsible for developing and testing all 20 recipes for this upcoming season, as well as being responsible for the daily production of all desserts and recipe steps during filming schedule.
The ideal candidate must be well-versed in culinary arts and skilled preparing desserts, pastries, cakes, ice creams and other sweet goods. Our Pastry Chef also must have excellent time management skills and be able to multitask in a fast-paced TV show set.
Duties & Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Develop and test 20 recipes during pre-production in partnership with our host and director Raiza Costa;
- Write and document all 20 recipes with all instructions and ingredient measurements during pre-production;
- Create exciting garnishments and decorations for all 20 recipes to ensure the presentation will be beautiful on camera;
During filming schedule:
- Plan recipe production to meet daily filming schedule and shooting plan;
- Prepare desserts and recipe steps according to daily filming schedule;
- Ensure recipe and recipe steps are ready on time according to daily filming schedule and shooting plan;
- Assist host during daily filming schedule, providing swaps between scenes;
- Guide and motivate dishwasher/kitchen assistant to maintain kitchen and working stations organized and clean;
- Monitor stocks for ingredients and make appropriate orders within budget (with approval from Line Producer/Production Manager);
- Source and order other supplies and kitchen equipment when needed (with approval from Line Producer/Production Manager);
- Display a positive attitude towards team members;
- Must be able to work extended shifts of 12 hours;
- Communicate effectively and report to Line Producer/Production Manager;
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years experience as Pastry Chef or relevant role;
- Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking or relevant field;
- Excellent time management skills;
- Capable of multitasking in a fast paced environment while maintaining high attention to detail;
- Must be energetic, self-motivated, self-organized and a team player;
- Must be flexible to the needs of the business;
Schedule & Availability:
- This is a seasonal full time position. Recipe testing should occur from 04/29 to 05/10, with the possibility to be extended to 05/17 if needed.
- Filming schedule should occur from 06/24 to 09/20, Monday to Friday.
- Compensation $16 hourly ($225/day)
