URBAN GROWER INTERN Roots Down

  • Date Posted April 22, 2019
  • Location Decatur, GA
  • Category Agriculture / Education
  • Job type Part-Time
Company description

We are redefining what urban agriculture looks like for cities. Urban agriculture, until now, has focused on farming systems but these systems are fragmented. Urban agriculture has the potential to be so much more. We are working to create urban foodscapes that are woven into the very fabric of city infrastructure. But what does that mean? Imagine a city that has less grass and more food. Less mowing, more growing.

Internship description
    • How would you like to help rewrite how Urban Agriculture is going to act in cities across America?.  We are starting with Clarkston GA as an incubator program! We are working on a program called the Urban Grower where we will be training this person to be a resource for cities’ public works departments. Giving them some knowledge about how to grow food, ecology and community.
    • With this program, we are blurring the lines between farming and landscaping. Every city will have its own urban grower.
    • We developed this program to solve the problems of modern urban farming and landscaping.
      • modern day landscaping is destroying ecosystems
      • farmers have a low equity model
      • landscaping is input-driven with no output
      • urban agriculture is fragmented
    • Our futures will be brighter with Urban Growers. The Urban Grower is the solution for creating Productive Urban Landscapes that are interwoven into the fabric of our city infrastructure.
