Dotory nestled in corky south Williamsburg is small Korean eatery opened up 6 years ago by one woman (me, Haegeen Kim). Since Dotory (means acron, seed) has planted as a neighborhood cozy spot where customers can find from soup to sandwich that has Korea flavor, day & night. Now it is time to change into more healthier, funkier and mature food and we need someone who would sail the boat together bravely and diligently.
Dotory is looking for a sous chef/collaborator or “someone special” who can join a small kitchen team. I am saying “someone” because I believe that anyone can cook (sounds familiar? Chef Gusteau?), and if you are someone out there looking for a chance to change your life in this difficult but rewarding world, I would love to share, teach, train and grow together.
I am a converter myself who used to be a painter, and never regret my decision despite of the difficulty. Or if you are a cook who is looking for more meaningful way to express your talent in a small place, you would be a right candidate. Bottom line, you need to have STRONG knowledge in Korean food, great curiosity in other cuisines and impeccable work ethic. You also should be ok with working with a female chef/owner/manager.
There will be a challenge working into tightly neat team with one woman-octopus- management I have been doing. However, we all are ready for making more exciting & dynamic place where teamwork works to achieve common and healthier goal.Compensation this position is : hourly, $15/hr + Application instructions
