Job description

What We’re Looking For

FoodCorps seeks a Strategy and Partnerships Coordinator to join our growing team. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Strategy and Partnerships, the Coordinator will also work closely with the Chief Strategist in supporting FoodCorps’ systems change strategies: our government relations and policy work, school meal supply-side strategies, leadership development initiatives, and other projects that extend FoodCorps’ impact beyond our direct service AmeriCorps program. This position will be a key member of the Strategy and Partnerships team and will be responsible for coordinating essential department processes, managing project timelines, providing overall support across our leadership development, supply-side and policy functions, and providing specific administrative support to the Chief Strategist and Deputy Director. The Strategy and Partnerships Coordinator will also play a key role in supporting special projects, as determined by the needs of the department. The Strategy and Partnerships Coordinator will provide increased efficiency across FoodCorps’ work on systems change through strong management of logistics and projects. This is a full-time position, based at FoodCorps’ New York City office.

Who You Are

You are passionate about FoodCorps’ mission and vision, deeply committed to equity and inclusion, and excited about contributing to the success of the mission through impeccable logistics and administrative coordination. You are a team player who thrives on building meaningful internal and external relationships. You have stellar judgement, operate with diplomacy, and exhibit a high-level of professionalism and confidentiality. You possess a “roll-up-your-sleeves” attitude to getting work done, a high degree of determination, and are skilled at “managing up” to senior leaders.  You are highly motivated, have strong organizational skills, and are comfortable juggling multiple competing projects and tight deadlines. You are curious by nature, detail oriented, a great collaborator, and an effective communicator. You are a creative problem solver who enjoys digging into new challenges. You have both a comfort with ambiguity and desire to drive toward end goals. The fact that this is a new role excites you because your superpower is creative problem solving and anticipation of needs. Building efficient and sustainable processes in a fast-paced environment comes naturally to you.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage the Chief Strategist’s calendar, including the scheduling and coordinating of internal and external meetings, conference calls, and other appointments
  • Track priority projects and to-dos for the Chief Strategist and support her inbox management
  • Assist the Chief Strategist and other senior members of the Strategy and Partnerships team with basic technical and logistical needs, such as scheduling, coordinating conference calls, travel and expense reconciliation, vendor relations, and printing and preparing materials
  • Provide behind the scenes coordination of project timelines and deliverables across the department
  • Participate in Strategy and Partnerships meetings and conversations as a team member by contributing ideas and sharing perspectives
  • Support key internal and external meetings for Strategy and Partnerships team members, ensuring that materials are organized, logistics are finalized, technical support is accomplished, and physical space is conducive to aspirational outcomes
  • While demonstrating a nuanced understanding of priority activities, follow and improve upon existing systems to ensure efficient task management and strong information sharing
  • Manage the tracking system for annual department-level goals and department team meetings
  • Take the lead on special projects, like planning a department-wide retreat, analyzing data for a key project, or preparing briefs

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Outstanding organization skills
  • Firmly dedicated to FoodCorps commitments to equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Ability to adapt to the ever-changing environment of a fast-growing team and organization
  • Possess an intellectual curiosity, understanding and enthusiasm for the work of FoodCorps
  • Capable of dealing with a variety of personalities in situations requiring diplomacy, poise and firmness
  • Enjoys working behind the scenes, keeping details organized, and managing multiple complex projects at once
  • Stellar talent for project management: strength in multi-tasking, goal-setting, and prioritization
  • Ability to plan and run meetings seamlessly
  • Strong, capable relationship builder, including by phone and email, using multiple ways of communication according to partner preference and geography
  • Resourceful and flexible
  • Ability to work as a team player and also to work independently with minimum supervision
