If you are looking for a true homesteading experience, then Evans Knob is the place to be. Everything from raising vegetables to preserving them, livestock husbandry, fence building, making cows milk soaps with the milk that you just milked from one of the beautiful jersey cows, making maple syrup from the farms vast maple laden forest, and a whole lot of wool activities in the farm fiber studio courtesy of the many sheep that roam the pastures of Evans Knob. Learn to cook from scratch out of the gardens, make cheese, and forage for wild crafted mushrooms. There is always something to do on Evans Knob. We offer apprenticeships from early March to late November. Compensation is room and board in a rustic, but fully functional cabin, plus a weekly stipend.
Internship description
Interns/Apprentices will learn and eventually take responsibility for the production of pastured poultry from day old chicks to freezer and customer delivery. Some knowledge in vegetable production is desired to help maintain 3 acres of vegetables from planting to harvest and delivery to our customers for our CSA and farmers market. Applicants must be self motivated, work well with others and be an early riser. Hours vary as farm demands dictate our day to day schedule, individuals that are able to swing with the flow are desired. Carpentry skills would be an added bonus, as well as the ability to problem solve and see ahead.
