THIS JOB STARTS MARCH 1, 2020

Farming is a profession that cuts through all aspects of life; incorporating good food, community, fun, and lots of sun. And so, for an all-too-brief season, we come together to work, play, eat, and learn side by side in the great outdoors.

The Assistant Harvest Manager is responsible for assisting the Harvest Manager handling produce from the field to the wash house. The position works intimately with the farm crew keeping them motivated and on-task while in the field. Harvest labor is our biggest cost so good management skills are a necessity. The best candidates will be comfortable directing and motivating others and recognizing ways to improve efficiency on the fly. During the spring, the harvest manager may assist the Field Production Manager with planting and weeding operations.

Responsibilities

  • Running daily harvest operations while keeping farm crew motivated and on-task

Qualifications

  • At least 2 seasons on an outdoor vegetable farm (CSA farm experience preferred)

  • Ability to efficiently manage and motivate up to 15 people during harvest operations

  • Solid understanding of harvest methods for all types of vegetables

  • Ability to identify all types of vegetables

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to bend, kneel, and lift frequently

  • Ability to use Excel and/or Numbers documents preferred

  • Ability to operate tractors and use broad range of tractor implements preferred
