A fast growing, wildly successful retail, wholesale, and online business created with a vision; to grow each pineapple plant like a hobby plant, to never settle for good enough, to dream big and work hard and have fun doing it. Hole in the Mountain Farm is the largest Sugarloaf White Pineapple farm in the State of Hawaii. My husband and I started with raw land and 11 years ago we started planting Kauai Sugarloaf Pineapple plants. Currently we have over 300,000 Kauai Sugarloaf Pineapple plants growing on 11 acres of our 37 acre farm.  My husband and I work most everyday, hands on with our employees, doing many of the same jobs we expect of our employees and we are in our 60's. We sell at local health food stores, we ship wholesale to other specialty markets in Hawaii, and we have an online business that ships freshly harvested, ready to eat Kauai Sugarloaf to any address within the United States. 

Kauai Sugarloaf White Pineapple is a natural variety, an exotic, has a creamy smooth, juicy sweet, white flesh and is truly a low acid pineapple, not a marketing ploy.  Even the core is soft and sweet, not woody and stringy like yellow pineapple.  Mother Nature made this variety and it is easily the best tasting, sweetest pineapple in the world.  One taste and everyone agrees.

Our farm is on the NorthEastern coast of Kauai in an area known as Moloaa. We are obsessed with growing the best Sugarloaf pineapple and we stop at nothing to bring the freshest, sweetest, most beautiful pineapple to our customers.  There is no expense too great if it will result in a better pineapple.  We hand wrap our pineapple in paper to protect it from sunburn, we protect our plants, even stake them up one at a time because every plant matters.  We don't believe in good enough, we want the best.

We are still amazed at how many customer write to us to thank us for growing this pineapple. We are often overwhelmed with the outpouring of gratitude, appreciation, and love we receive from our customers.  We get Christmas cards, we get family pictures of loved ones with great smiles holding their pineapples, we get gifts from customers.  It is a little hard to believe they are paying us. General Description - Position Summary
Hole in the Mountain Farm, home to Kauai Sugarloaf Pineapple is looking for an experienced farm worker to assist harvesting/marketing to start immediately at 30-40 hours per week.  Starts at $15/hour + depending on experience. This is a great opportunity to join a successful young, growing business and can easily become a full-time permanent position, with health insurance, if you are the right fit. This individual will work closely with the owner and Farm Manager to carry out the work of harvesting Kauai Sugarloaf Pineapple and help at Farmers Markets. They must be organized, detail oriented, have a positive work attitude, great work ethic and a sense of pride about the work they accomplish. They must be ready to work on a myriad of tasks that make up our unique farm operation, keep a good work pace, follow directions, work as a team as well as independently and unsupervised.

This individual must maintain good health, be able to stand for extended periods of time, lift 50 pounds, and work outdoors under most weather conditions.

This individual will assist with harvesting, washing, sorting, grading and packing for local delivery and farmers market sales.  This individual will assist at farmers market loading, unloading, set up, customer interaction and sales transactions.

SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES:

• Assist with harvesting, sorting, grading, washing pineapple
• Assist with packing pineapple for local delivery and farmers markets
• Assist with set-up, breakdown, and sales at two farmers markets

Minimum qualifications

• Able to work 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
• Must be available on Saturdays from 7:30 a.m - 2:00 p.m.
• Ability to meet physical demands including extended periods of standing and walking throughout the day, and lifting up to 50lbs
• Must be punctual and reliable
• Ability to take directions and follow established guidelines
• A can do hustle attitude/you thrive on conquering tasks
• Flexible and willing to accommodate frequently changing tasks

Desired qualifications

• Experience working on a farm
• Available to work at least every other Wednesday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. to assist with late afternoon farmers market
• Ability and desire to maintain a clean and efficient work environment
• Ability to work with others as well as independently
• Outgoing, positive, and excited about quality Kauai Sugarloaf Pineapple
