Company description Shekomeko Farms is a private farm in Dutchess County growing vegetables, flowers, and perennial fruit crops. We grow organically and take pride in high-quality products. Job description We are looking for a Vegetable Grower to serve as the manager of the vegetable operation as soon as possible for the remainder of the growing season. Produce would go mainly to a small family, with surplus going to a site in Manhattan as an informal CSA. Working in coordination with the family chef, the grower would harvest, wash/pack, plant, cultivate, and maintain successions, as well as general maintenance of the growing spaces.

About the farm:
There are two ~3,000 sq.ft heated greenhouses. One is a propagation house and the other is a soil-based house currently with fruiting crops (tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers). 

The growing space for vegetables consists of 3 blocks, a total of ~.75 acres, situated inside a fenced 3 acres. Automated irrigation systems are in place. Tools include several tractors and attachments, and an assortment of hand tools.

Currently, half the space is cropped, with plans for successions. Ability to competently step in and transition with the current grower in the next few weeks is a must.

This is not a position for someone without production experience (at least 1 full year on a production farm is required).

Compensation is competitive and can be negotiated as salary or hourly pay. Potential housing provided, as well as use of farm vehicle for work-related purposes.
