Company description The Sioux Chef, led by James Beard award winner Sean Sherman, is a unique Twin Cities catering company dedicated to building awareness of, and providing access to, Native American food of the Dakota and Anishinaabe regions of Minnesota. Everything from our indigenous kitchen is free of gluten, dairy and refined sugar. General Manager of Catering

  • Oversee FOH and BOH catering staff
    • Hire, train and supervise staff
    • Conduct employee reviews
    • Schedule catering leads/event staff in When I Work software
    • Manage other human resources duties as needed
  • Manage accounting procedures
    • Check When I Work for accuracy; confirm staff schedules; run bi-weekly payroll
    • Input account information to QuickBooks; work with senior accountant to reconcile accounts receivable
  • Monitor product quality and service
    • Oversee catering menu; work with Kitchen Managers to develop new items
    • Manage catering staff, including sales assistants, event leads and service personnel
    • Respond to client inquiries and organize an array of detailed events
    • ordering products and supplies, rentals etc
    • Communicate with owner about specialty requests, including out of town events


Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize as needed
  • Ability to think quickly, pivot and remain a calm leader in stressful situations
  • Inspire staff and lead by example
  • Knowledge of (or interest in) Indigenous Foods and food safety 
  • Lead and conduct regular FOH, BOH meetings
  • Possess a valid driver's license
