The Good Life Grocery seeks a Cheese & Specialty Foods Buyer with retail grocery experience and a passion for cheese and other specialty food items. Under the direction of the General Manager and Assistant General Manager, the Cheese & Specialty Foods Buyer works on the sales floor to proactively engage customers with products. This position is responsible for preparing cheese for display, merchandising and quality control, and coordinating closely with other store personnel to continuously improve customer service and product quality. Candidates should have a collaborative, “can do” spirit and at least five years of retail grocery experience.

• Retail grocery experience (at least 5 years)

• Great communication skills with customers, employees and vendors
• Detail-oriented regarding store inventory and merchandising
• Timely, reliable and hard working, and able to work well independently and with the team

Responsibilities for this position:

• Cut and wrap cheese, prepare orders and receive loads of products
• Manage cheese product merchandising and display, maintaining product assortment and quality on the sales floor
• Proactively assist customers in the store with cheese and other specialty foods
• Closely monitor production, conduct periodic inspections and follow proper procedures related to preparation, sanitation and rotation of product to ensure highest quality, avoid overproduction and ensure safe standards
• Assist Deli Manager with pricing for new items or necessary price changes
• Manage and maintain a Cheese and Specialty Foods Sampling program, assisting other departments in execution for their sampling programs, and suggesting cross merchandising
• Plan for ad promotions and participate in company advertising
• Provide service at the Deli Counter whenever needed
• Unload and break down deliveries and stock sales floor with products as needed
