Company description The Roasted Granola is a small family-run bakery and café run by sisters Emily Patel and Sarah Short. It began as a wholesale granola bakery and granola production remains the core of the business. After widespread appreciation for our products, we opened a cafe featuring our granola in a variety of bowls and baked goods. We also worked with Counter Culture Coffee to include a full-service espresso drinks menu that we continue to expand and refine. The cafe is designed to enrich the Arlington Heights with high quality, fresh and delicious food in a comfortable space for the community to share music, art, and ideas. Job Description: 

 

We are seeking a Lead Baker for our granola bakery and cafe in the heart of Arlington Heights, a neighborhood of Arlington where creative and active community members are eager to see our family-run cafe thrive. This leadership role will provide an exciting opportunity to develop and manage a kitchen team while also creatively engaging in the recipe development and baking processes. Our kitchen is consistently described as a warm and inclusive environment and we prioritize hiring of people that share our values for good food, community strength, and dedication to effective team work. In addition to performing the job duties, our kitchen manager may have the opportunity to train with Counter Culture, our coffee provider and leader in the sustainable coffee movement; earn a Food Safe © certification; and to participate in the recruitment and selection of future employees.

Location and Hours: 

  • The cafe is conveniently located on MBTA bus route 77 just stops away from Somerville and Cambridge
  • This position is intended to be between 20-30 hours a week and extend beyond "open" hours for the cafe. 
 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee all aspects of food production in our kitchen including ingredient inventory, food preparation, and food production;
  • Maintain an efficient, safe, and positive culture in the kitchen;
  • Develop processes to streamline processes for our current menu; 
  • Develop and evaluate new recipes in collaboration with co-owners.. 
 

Additional Duties May Include

  • Sales Representative of The Roasted Granola at community events, farmers markets, and local markets;
  • Assist in growth and development for The Roasted Granola bakery and cafe, 
 

Qualifications: 

  • Experience working in a kitchen and/or bakery;
  • Leadership experience (preferably in a kitchen setting);
  • Genuine appreciation for good food and good people;
  • Effective communication skills;
  • Organizational skills;
  • Punctuality and time management skills;
  • Creativity, specifically related to recipe development;
  • Willingness to work hard and learn with our dynamic team.
Compensation this position is : hourly, $15/hr + Application instructions
