Serenbe Farms is a USDA Certified Organic, small scale (20 acre), diverse CSA and market farm located in Chattahoochee Hills, GA. We run a 30 week, 125-member CSA program, our community Farmer’s Market, and 2x/week harvests and deliveries to several restaurants. We do a lot with mechanization, and are very tech savvy and progressive. Our ultimate commitment is a beautiful farm experience to our dedicated and amazing community and CSA members.
We are the community farm for Serenbe, an Agrihood 30 mins south of Atlanta, featured in uncountable national and international Press outlets. Our community and farm are studied and modeled as the pinnacle for sustainable living.
We also pride ourselves on being a working educational farm by offering an immersive organic farming apprenticeship program, as well as year round weekly tours to the public, and hosted school and private organization tours. Our apprentices participate and eventually learn to lead all aspects of the daily farming process.
NOW HIRING: 3 MONTH APPRENTICESHIP (AUG - NOV)

Organic Diversified Vegetables/Agritourism Farm Apprentice
We are seeking ONE motivated, task-oriented, dedicated and fun individual to join our seasonal apprentices at Serenbe Farms for the remainder of 2019 growing season (Feb- Nov).
Our apprentice positions are physically and mentally demanding, but also provide the opportunities for long-term employment and farm management training.
The work week during market season consists of approximately 50 hours, with 9-hour weekdays, and rotating Saturday farmstand days and weekend chore duties. We start work as early as 6AM, especially during the heat of the summer. Work outside of normal work hours will be required for some projects, weekend greenhouse, and staffing the farmstand.
Our farm is located in The community of Serenbe, and Agrihood 30 mins South of Atlanta. We are a village, an “Agrihood” in protected forest, with all the amenities of a small town, like a lovely coffee shop and bakery, gift shops, restaurants, walking/biking trails, and more. Apprentices receive discounts at community shops and eateries.
The apprenticeship is best viewed as a hands-on, work-training program, rather than an exclusively “educational” experience. Apprentices are trained on daily greenhouse chores, planting, weeding, harvesting and marketing vegetables through a CSA, restaurant sales, and a farmers market. We pride ourselves on being a tech savvy and progressive farm, and have many fun tools for a small scale farm. Apprentices will find that they gain the most experience by showing initiative, attention to detail, good work ethic and the ability to ask for help. Strong communication skills are vital to thriving within a small hardworking group.
While apprentices are exposed to a diverse array of farm tasks, they are also required to take responsibility for one, or more, of the following areas:
Crop Production: will work with our Farm Manager on field production of vegetable crops. This person will be responsible for cultivation of crops, crop health and fertility and record keeping. He or she will also learn work with management of harvest, wash and pack activities.
Education: will be a lead on school and organizational tours. Must be comfortable working with and speaking in front of up to 50 people, of any age and demographic.
Culinary Garden: will work a few hours per week in the Culinary Garden at our Farm to Table Restaurant. Work will include maintaining raised beds and coordinating harvests with the chef
Cut Flower Production: Will work focused each week in the cut flower fields alongside Manager, from planting to harvesting, and making bouquets for sales, and wholesale harvests for florists. Will prep and seed succession flowers each week.
Housing is provided and required for this position. Private bedroom in 3 bedroom, 1 bath home walking distance to farm. Cottage is in forest like setting surrounded by trees, with small yard for grilling and relaxing in a hammock, as well as a small deck. Housing will be shared with 2 other apprentices.
We work hard to maintain an 8am-5 pm (or a seasonal version such as 7-4) with a one hour lunch break at noon on our farm, for life quality and structure.
There are occasional hours outside of this as needed.
Market Season Schedule is M-F + Some Saturday markets and on-farm events.
Sundays- We rotate responsibility of light Sunday chores, to accommodate an additional day off for each staff member each month.
Mondays- Apprentices rotate Mondays off, so every 3rd Monday you have a 5 day work week!
Apprentices will be responsible for whatever food they need in addition to free vegetables produced at the farm.
Apprentices receive a $1000/month stipend.
