Mamacitas is a women-owned social enterprise that partners with local non-profit organizations to create fair-wage jobs and professional development opportunities for young women of color in Oakland, California. Our mission is to forge new feminist-informed economic and leadership pathways in the local Oakland food industry and other creative fields. We are hiring on call staff for both our front and back of house teams. All those who work with Mamacitas must be committed to: our values of dismantling oppression and growing liberation for young people of color and all marginalized communities; collaboration; punctuality/respect for others’ time and energy; willingness to accept and give critical, constructive feedback. Specific responsibilities for FOH and BOH will include:
FOH: Working with our Production Manager and the rest of the FOH Production team create and support catering events. Duties include setting up, stocking items, serving clients/guests, and breaking down/cleaning catering materials. Familiarity and experience in food service, especially catering is prioritized.
BOH: Working with our Kitchen Manager and the rest of the BOH Production team to cook and prepare food for our catering events. 1 year minimum cooking/kitchen prep experience is required.
Anticipated working conditions
- Working in a commercial kitchen and preparing and cooking food
- Moving and transporting boxes, catering/cooking equipment, and other supplies, weighing up to 40 pounds
- Working in/around noisier spaces, specifically a working kitchen
- Traveling to and from our commercial kitchen and events throughout the Bay Area
