Saxelby Cheesemongers is New York’s first cheese shop devoted to locally sourced cheeses. Saxelby’s sells a premier selection of regional farmstead cheese to retail customers in our Essex Market shop as well as to over 100 restaurants and other retail shops throughout the city. We pride ourselves on selecting cheeses from small producers who farm sustainably with respect for their land and animals. The range of cheeses available at Saxelby Cheesemongers changes throughout the year as we work with and celebrate the seasonal nature of cheesemaking.
Job descriptionWe are looking for an Inside Sales and Marketing Representative to grow our wholesale sales to restaurants and stores, provide great customer service to our mail order customers, as well as develop and expand our marketing outreach.
Responsibilities Include:
SALES
- Daily communication with wholesale customers to take, confirm and schedule delivery of orders
- Learn and maintain product knowledge to assist in customer support
- Communicate with customers, sales team and cave manager regarding product availability, samples, order delivery status, pricing/delivery/quality control issues in order to ensure highest levels of customer service
- Update customer database on a daily basis with notes, contact information, customer preferences, etc.
- Receive and process mail order orders placed through online store
- Mail order customer support
PRODUCTION
- Generate invoices on a daily basis to assist production team
- Assist with production of wholesale orders (cutting and wrapping cheeses) on Monday and Friday mornings
MARKETING
- Mail Order: Work with mail order director to create offers, take pictures, maintain and update online store
- Grow & maintain Social Media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
- Develop online advertising (Google and Facebook ads)
- Marketing analytics: google, online advertising, newsletter stats, track online sales results, customer engagement on social media, etc.
- Create weekly newsletter content for both wholesale and mail order, interface with graphic designer
- Maintain and grow email subscriber base
- Press outreach for events and new products
- Develop events and partnerships
Requirements:
- Passion for food and cooking
- Superior multi-tasking abilities
- Strong organizational, time management and follow-through skills
- Capable of starting and managing projects independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent sales and customer service skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Proficient in Google Docs, Quickbooks, Excel
- Basic knowledge of HTML a plus
- Experience: 2 years of sales in the food industry preferably in specialty artisan cheese
- Candidate must be willing and able to do physical labor, as this position entails working on your feet, and lifting and moving heavy objects up to 80lb
