The Kids’ Table is the premier Chicago cooking school for kids and families. We teach folks of all ages (starting at just 18 months!) that cooking is fun, and “real food” is really good! We run classes, parties, camps, and school programs at our two locations (in Chicago’s Wicker Park and Lakeview neighborhoods), as well as at offsite locations around Chicagoland. The Admin Manager is the day-to-day face and voice of The Kids’ Table to our customers. They keep the front-of-the-house operations running smoothly and act as the liaison between our customers and our culinary team.

Job description

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Open/close the store and manage front-of-the-house operations during open hours
  • Greet and check in customers (adults and children)
  • Communicate all class and event registration info to culinary team
  • Respond to all customer inquiries (phone, email, in person) in a timely manner
  • Maintain and manage retail store inventory, and stock of all items other than food and kitchen supplies/equipment
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of admin, retail, and other nonfood areas of the space
  • Bring the positive energy and collaborative spirit to work every day
 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA) from four-year college or university, or one to two years related experience and/or training
  • Strong familiarity with office and/or facilities management procedures
  • A team player with leadership skills
  • Ability to think creatively and problem-solve
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Excellent organizational skills and multitasking abilities
  • Strong computer skills
  • Engaging and empathetic personality
  • Able to be productive and thrive in a frequently busy and vibrant environment
  • Able to comfortably work at a computer much of the day
  • Able to comfortably sit much of the day
 

Position is full-time and salaried (with benefits). Position has a set hours schedule (about 40/week), but hours may vary at times depending on business needs.
