Company description Tamarindo, a new family-owned restaurant located in Downtown San Clemente, is seeking an experienced General Manager. Tamarindo started as a successful food truck and has grown into a full-service brick and mortar restaurant, housed in a cheery and inviting custom-built space. Our kitchen offers fresh, modern, and approachable takes on Mexican cuisine, made from locally-sourced and organic ingredients. Our beer and wine program is sourced entirely from Southern California and Mexico. We recently launched our agave-focused cocktail program and will be expanding in the coming months. General Manager

The General Manager will report directly to the owners, a husband and wife team who oversee BOH & FOH operations, respectively. This is an opportunity to help shape a growing local business and to work directly with an eager and enthusiastic staff. The General Manager position is available immediately.

 

Responsibilities include:

-Develop and maintain systems for daily sales reports, and monthly labor reports and P&Ls;

-Work directly with owners to evaluate and improve business practices

-Interact with guests to foster community engagement

-Field press inquiries, engage over social media and assist with marketing efforts

-Hire and train new FOH staff members

-Ensure adherence to service standards, SOPs, and HR compliance

-Oversee ongoing FOH staff education

-Serve as shift lead/manager during scheduled shifts

-Enact disciplinary interventions with FOH staff as needed

-Oversee FOH staff schedule and payroll

-Update POS (Toast) as needed

-Help drive sales through customer engagement and marketing tactics, such as happy hour and private events

 


The ideal candidate offers:

-A background in casual/upscale full-service restaurants

-Experience managing a small team

-Experience hiring and training staff

-Familiarity with Mexican cuisine and beverages

-Proficiency with restaurant financial reporting

-Experience with backend POS admin, delivery platforms, and other restaurant software 

-Some knowledge of Spanish is a plus, but not required

-Warm and welcoming demeanor with our guests

-Excellent communication skills

-Self-motivation, diplomacy, and problem-solving skills

-Passion for hospitality; ability to model excellent service standards for staff

-Availability to work a full-time schedule, plus holidays and weekends as needed

 

 

This position offers a competitive salary, DOE, with a potential healthcare stipend, paid vacation after 6 months, and plenty of potential for growth. The GM will be an integral part of our team and we hope to find a candidate who can commit to a longterm role.
