Job Title: Account Manager, Public Relations

Department: Public Relations

Reporting to: Senior Director, Public Relations

FLSA Status: Full time, Non-Exempt 

PR ACCOUNT MANAGER (Expertise identified)

3 to 5 years’ experience, this position requires strong public relations expertise complemented by sharp communication and leadership skills. Account Managers are responsible for achieving and maintaining client satisfaction. A passion for restaurants and the hospitality industry as well as a desire to learn about various areas of marketing, public relations and brand strategy.

Client Relationships

● Is the central point of communication for 6 to 9 clients, and is accountable for the health and growth of the relationships; may also partner with Senior colleagues as key partner on account accounts where manager is not Account Lead

● Builds confidence with the client that strategic solutions, project details, process steps, billings and deliverables are well organized, communicated and managed

● Ensures all correspondence, materials, presentations, proposals seen by prospective and existing clients are error-free, of highest quality, relevant to the client’s business challenges, and reflective of af&co;.’s approach

● Communicates in a clear and compelling manner in written, oral and presentation forms

● Facilitates internal project team meetings (kick-off, status, etc.) as appropriate.

Strategic, Creative & Innovative Thinking

● Is highly creative and competent at communicating ideas; consistently brings “Bright Ideas” for driving revenue and increasing client relevance to key audiences

● Continually develops integrated marketing communications skills

● Be knowledgeable and up to date on hospitality and public relations trends

● Actively identify inspirations and benchmarks for projects and share with team

● May be authoring thought leadership pieces through the af&co;. Blog, newsletter or by contributing to the agencies annual trend report

New Business Development

● Embraces business development, actively seeking opportunities to respond to agency leads

● Is able to speak to all of af&co;.’s capabilities and core value proposition for clients

● Drafts new business proposals, utilizing an understanding of potential clients key needs

Project/Financial Management

● Establish and communicate project priorities to team members

● Coordinate project management activities including updating status reports, meeting agendas, etc.

● Proactively support timelines and action steps to drive successful program development

● Proactively raises concerns in a timely fashion so that action can be taken to solve potential issues

Public Relations Expertise

● Leads client’s integrated marketing communications planning, identifying objectives, strategies and tactics

● Develops and maintains strong relationships with the media

● Leads the creation of creative public relations initiatives that drive relevance and revenue

● Secures features, mentions and round-ups for clients on a regular basis

● Maintains close relationships with media

● Ideates, writes, edits, and executes pitches that achieve pr goals for clients and agency

● Research/write press releases that will include monthly round ups, calendars and clients (include tracking/measurement system)

● Develop and build contact database - for marketing and public relations opportunities

● Build and oversee creation of targeted media lists for client pitches

● Manage editorial calendar opportunities for clients, including tracking deadlines, sharing opportunities with other account managers

● Is able to measure ROI and utilize data to make informed strategic or tactical recommendations

Salary range will be based on experience, accomplishments and skill. Compensation will include base salary and business development/performance bonuses and potential partnership opportunities. Full benefits package including medical, dental etc. plus 401 (k). We would prefer a locally based candidate but will consider candidates nationally. We have a limited relocation policy.
