Slow Food is a mission-driven organization with 150 local chapters throughout the country, and part of the global Slow Food network working for a food system that is good, clean and fair in over 160 countries. The digital media intern will assist in managing and producing dynamic, consistent, on-brand content for our social media platforms (with over 750,000 followers, cumulative across platforms), campaigns and communications with our network. This is a great opportunity to gain specific work experience, be a productive part of a small but mighty team, add to a portfolio and connect with the global Slow Food network!
 

Main Responsibilities:
  • Work with supervisor on editorial calendar for social platforms that integrates campaigns, chapter happenings and current, food-related topics
  • Research, write, and schedule content for Slow Food USA Facebook, Twitter, Instagram accounts
  • Maintain and moderate social media accounts—comments, messages, edits and network
  • Brainstorm, plan and produce media with Communications Team to support campaigns, communities and membership
Qualifications:
  • Savvy and experienced with social media platforms, specifically Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter
  • Ability to recognize on-brand aesthetic and design
  • Excellent grammar and copyediting skills
  • Excellent people and communication skills, comfortable connecting virtually with team and community members
  • Organized and self-motivated

Bonus Skills & Experience:

  • Great interest in and some experience with food, agriculture and community-based advocacy
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator and Lightroom
  • Experience with video editing in Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Spanish speaker

Duration & Hours: 

  • Fall 2019
  • 16 hours per week
  • 1 day per week at co-working site in Portland, 1 day remote
