Seeking Experienced Organic Vegetable Gardener for an innovative, eco-friendly, community-minded, sustainable cooperative in San Diego County.
Description
Perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled edible gardening duties using organic practices, in the care of multiple gardens, for an urban sharecrop community at private homes throughout San Diego County.
Job functions include but not limited to:
- installing, maintaining and repairing raised beds gardens and irrigation systems,
- operating a variety of gardening maintenance equipment and tools, in accordance with organic guidelines,
- fertilizing, planting, and harvesting fruits and vegetables for distribution to shareholders and community partners.
Required Skills
* In-depth knowledge and experience in planning and implementing organic vegetable and fruit tree gardening techniques for San Diego's climate including:
installation of raised-beds and irrigation systems, soil testing,
plant propagation, seedling care, transplanting, weeding, watering, pruning, harvesting, and fertility management;
pest control and plant health, observation, monitoring, and care.

* Knowledge of tool and worksite safety and ability to teach others.

Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years experience in production growing including organic farming, gardening, and/or horticulture.
- Priority is given to those with experience, their own vehicle and a valid California Driver's License.
