Tri County Tech, one of 29 public technology centers in the Oklahoma Career and Technical Education System, serves the residents throughout the northeast Oklahoma counties of Washington, Nowata, and Osage. TCT has a vision of inspiring success through life-changing learning experiences. With a goal that no student should be denied an education due to inability to pay, TCT provides scholarships and funding for student expenses such as medication, gasoline, clothing, and food. TCT has sustained top 25% nationally rankings for student completion/retention and placement for eight fiscal years. The institution also increased graduate wages to well above the national average while growing its own revenues 34 percent since 2009–without federal funding and despite a sizable reduction in state funding. This past year, we served 648 full-time students. We also provide customized business and industry training programs, community education classes, event and meeting services. 21,184 students were served by these activities.

Job description

TITLE: Culinary & Hospitality Director (General Manager)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree  Required. Master’s preferred (or willing to obtain).
  2. Demonstrated organizational and leadership experience in the Hospitality sector.
  3. Minimum of five years related industry experience in food & beverage management, catering or similar food service related experience. 

REPORTS TO:   Chief Financial Officer and Director of Operations

Tri County’s Culinary and Hospitality Department provides both nourishment and facility resources to students, customers, and instructors, enabling life-changing learning opportunities to take place. The department is responsible for the operations of  1)The Osage Market, a daily cafe serving over 300 students, instructors and community members, 2)The Child Development Center food service, serving approximately 50 infants to school-aged children, 3)Event and Hospitality Services, hosting nearly 3000 customers per year in our state of the art facilities, 4) On-site Catering offering fine dining for local industry and hosted events. 

The Culinary and Hospitality Director will provide strategic leadership, coordination, and alignment for the Culinary and Hospitality Department by leveraging a strong team to creatively build upon existing services and grow revenue. This position will strive to maximize profits by ensuring high standards of food service quality and creating memorable hospitality experiences for guests. Key candidates will possess strong attributes in the areas of event coordination, customer service, profit & loss management, and creative marketing to promote business. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

Provide Leadership to the Culinary and Hospitality Department
  1. Provide leadership for the team overseeing the daily operation of Osage Market, and Hospitality & Event Services to ensure all services are functioning in alignment.
  2. Identify and execute on marketing and sales opportunities to grow annual revenue for daily service and special events. 
  3. Ensure proper coordination and staffing for catering and special event services. 
  4. Manage facilities and logistics (including equipment), identify process efficiencies and effectiveness. 
  5. Maintain relationships with key vendors.
  6. Develop and implement annual goals. 
  7. Represent the Culinary and Hospitality / Event Services with all relevant and sponsoring organizations.
  8. Identify and coordinate key events that will benefit the community and generate exposure.
  9. Develop, maintain and monitor a budget and control system covering income and expenditures for departmental operations.
  10. Assist with responding to guests’ requests and accommodating groups.
  11. Assist with planning of all event menus and catering needs, ensuring the provision of quality food and service, to the requirements and satisfaction of the customer.
  12. Develop and manage a strategic plan for the growth of events and catering opportunities for revenue.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve months; salary to be established by the Board of Education.

EVALUATION: Performance evaluated by staff as directed by the Superintendent in accordance with Board policy.

SALARY:  $70,000 - $80,000/ annually

NIMS Designation: General (NIMS 100 & 700 courses)
