Founded in 1979, the Washington State Farmers Market Association (“WSFMA”) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. We provide the support farmers markets to be thriving marketplaces for local agriculture, enriching community life, and bringing good food to all. Our programs focus on market promotions, training and education, including an annual conference, food access, research, and advocacy. The WSFMA currently has a small staff with an office at Pike Place Market in Seattle and two remote offices.

Job description

The Administrative Associate will provide critical support the WSFMA’s programs, grants, communications, information systems, and organizational development. We're a small. fast-moving team driven to provide the best possible service to our member farmers markets and create an efficient, self-sustaining nonprofit organization. We also have a lot on our plates and need someone seeking a support role where you can help us deliver on our commitments, learn everyday, and make a big difference to our success.
 

We are looking for candidates with strong interpersonal and communication skills; who demonstrated a high level of attention to details, process, and protocols. The Administrative Associate will need to be highly organized and able to learn quickly about our work both internally as well as with farmers markets, procedures, and technologies that keep us efficient. The WSFMA and this position provide ample opportunities for skills development and professional experience working in local foods, agriculture, and the nonprofit sector.
 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintaining a well-organized office, including inventory and stewardship of all WSFMA assets.
  • Providing technical support and problem-solving a variety of online services and software, including online Conference registration.
  • Efficiently managing mailings (Directories, Rack Cards, Conference outreach and other projects).
  • Rigorously maintaining database and information management; including data entry, cleaning, generating reports; data security.
  • Supporting and updating online communications, including Website and social media.
  • Supporting external communications, print materials, training tools, educational materials, and farmers market promotions.
  • Arranging and supporting meetings for staff and board.
  • Providing general administrative and travel support to staff and for Conference.
  • Various other duties.


 DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Advanced experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams; Zoom; Dropbox; and WordPress, EventBrite, Google Forms, online newsletters, listservs, and other programs with the ability to easily learn new software and functions as needed.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills on the phone, on video conference calls, in person, and via email and other online communication; in English.
  • Experience working with nonprofit organizations, especially with small teams who have big goals.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and formatting skills in multiple genres, for both internal and external communications. Plain language training and skills a plus.
  • Training in adult education and designing materials for multiple modes of learning a plus.
  • Must be able both to work effectively as member of team and independently as a self-starter comfortable working with minimal supervision.
  • Highly organized, with excellent information management skills, and able to juggle multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail and completing tasks on time.
  • A strong work ethic and the ability to prioritize while maintaining a personable and cooperative attitude.
  • Graphic design experience, proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and InDesign a plus.
  • Education desired in nonprofit management, information technologies, organizational development, communications, small business development, or related disciplines.
  • Commitment to WSFMA’s mission and our member farmers markets.
  • Experience with the WSFMA and member markets is a plus.
Compensation this position is : hourly, $15/hr + Application instructions
