Job description
Fresh Direct Wines and Spirits is looking for part time Retail Associates for our boutique South Park Slope store. Retail Associates help walk-in customers select wines & spirits and provide good, friendly customer service to our loyal local base as well as new customers. Retail experience is preferred; basic to good knowledge of wine and spirits is essential.
We’re a hands-on store where everyone works together to ensure a stellar customer experience. We maintain an unpretentious, relaxed atmosphere and we focus on great customer service. Shifts available will either be Friday & Saturday nights or Saturday & Sunday, with the opportunity to pick up additional shifts. Flexibility in schedule is a plus.
Recipe for Success:
- Assists walk-in customers and focus on developing repeat customers.
- General store management – opening / closing, checking in deliveries, cash drops, etc.
- Assists with daily in-store tastings. Engaging with customers on new and featured wines & spirits.
- Restocking and maintenance of shelves
- Maintenance of the basement, including organization
- Accepting shipments of merchandise once or twice a week. This involves lifting, carrying and stacking cases of alcoholic beverages up and down a flight of stairs.
- Basic maintenance of the store, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, cleaning of kitchen, bathroom, etc.
Key Ingredients:
- An appreciation of wines and spirits of all price levels
- Basic to good wine and spirits knowledge
- Previous wine and spirits retail or sales experience
- Excellent customer service, and strong verbal and written communication skills
- Punctual and detail oriented
- WSET Certification or equivalent a plus
- Knowledge of MS Word/Excel a plus
- Able to lift 40 lbs.
- Able to work weekends and nights consistently
