Hickory Nut Gap Farm began with a love story in the mountains in the year 1916, when newlyweds Jim and Elizabeth McClure visited Fairview during their honeymoon.  Four generations later, Jim and Elizabeth’s great grandson, Jamie Ager and his wife Amy, embarked on a mission to share the family farm experience with the world and develop a sustainable farming model for future generations. Today, Hickory Nut Gap is proud to be a leader in 100% grassfed and grass finished beef, pasture-raised pork, and pasture-raised chicken.  They now work with over 50 farmers in the Southeastern United states and are spearheading the regenerative agriculture movement by using a pasture-based farming model. INTRODUCTION

This Warehouse Associate position works out of the main office of Hickory Nut Gap Meats (HNG Meats) in Flat Rock (Henderson County), North Carolina, and works on the road.

HNG Meats provides wholesale meats, sales and delivery services to restaurants, grocers, institutions, and distributors around the southeast USA. 

This position provides support to the Warehouse Manager and staff at HNG Meats. The incumbent works to complete tasks daily and assist customers for HNG Meats. 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Pack orders
• Deliver orders
• Organize fresh meat received weekly and value added deliveries
• Rotate meat for freeze down and transport to AVL Packing
• Help pick up customers/ customer service
• Establish relationships with customers during pickups and deliveries
• Help with warehouse cleaning and upkeep
• Prepare value added shipments
• Attend Monday wholesale meetings
• Miscellaneous Warehouse Manager support and tasks

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

• Proficient in microsoft office and gmail.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Demonstrated ability to function effectively as a team member with strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to maintain harmonious relationships.
• Excellent customer service skills
• Good at juggling multiple tasks and prioritizing tasks; ability to work on multiple projects concurrently, ensuring deliverables are completed on time, are of the highest quality, and enhance the reputation of the HNG Meats brand. 

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS        

Position reports to Warehouse Manager. 

Position is expected to operate under moderate to limited supervisory involvement, depending on the task and the incumbent’s knowledge and ability to complete the task.  The supervisor remains available for information, advice, guidance, or assistance if needed and may provide training, coaching, and feedback as appropriate.

Position is responsible for ensuring project timelines for all assigned projects for meeting deadlines.

 The Warehouse Manager reviews and evaluates position’s completed work for success in achieving objectives and standards.

SCOPE AND EFFECT

The purpose of this work is to support the Warehouse Manager in day to day operations.

The Warehouse Associates work will allow the warehouse to efficiently receive, pack and distribute product to customers while maintaining organization of all product and warehouse spaces.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is a physically demanding position. Days may entail a majority of hours lifting boxes weighing up to 60 lbs. Ability to sit for full work days and drive a 16’ box truck is required. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This associate position is located in the main office of Hickory Nut Gap Meats (HNG Meats) in Flat Rock (Henderson County), North Carolina. 

The incumbent works in office, freezer and cooler warehouse environment, and in a delivery truck.  Most office work is accomplished using personal desktop or portable computer systems, scanners, printers, copiers, phone, and typical office supplies and equipment. Warehouse work includes lifting in coolers and freezers, utilizing and electric pallet jack, and hand trucks.
