Purpose & Scope

Resident is seeking a self-motivated, go-getter Events Coordinator with a background in events and food & beverage. We’re looking for a person who can manage and execute Resident events, oversee event staff, and ensure the best guest experience possible. We’re looking for someone who enjoys problem solving, thinking on their feet, and who can communicate effectively with our small team, rotating chefs, and client base.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

On-Site

Service & Staff Management

  • Train and manage event staff, including dishwashers, servers, sommeliers, chefs, and sous chefs. Work closely with the Director of Operations to problem-solve any issues related to service or staff performance.
  • Lead pre-function staff meetings to review schedule and responsibilities.
  • Interview, train, and manage freelance event coordinators to ensure coverage across all Resident events.
  • Spearhead creation of playbooks and manuals to optimize training and management as the business scales.
  • Work closely with the Director of Operations to manage departmental budget and find efficiencies.  

Venue Maintenance & Upkeep

  • Oversee event set-up and breakdown for 15+ events per month. Events usually take place in the evenings. 
  • Ensure that all event facilities and equipment are cleaned and properly stocked.
  • Manage supplies and equipment inventory and handle incoming and outgoing deliveries. 
  • Implement and oversee best practices for kitchen and venue maintenance.

Guest Relations

  • Serve as the first touchpoint and host for Resident guests, greeting them upon arrival, addressing needs and requests, and ensuring complete guest satisfaction.
  • Formally kick-off dinner service with welcome remarks and an introduction of the chef.
  • Act as a Resident ambassador throughout events, answering questions about Resident as needed.

Office/Admin

  • Maintain procedures to ensure the security and proper storage of event inventory and equipment. Replenish supplies in a timely manner and minimize the misuse and breakage of china, glassware, linen, and other inventory.
  • Assist in controlling departmental labor and expenses and provide input for preparation of the annual departmental operating budget.
  • Interact with outside vendors to ensure adequate inventory of supplies and equipment, to discuss pricing or service issues, and to resolve any vendor performance issues.
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure all stakeholders are informed of necessary event details and special requests.

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of experiencing working in events 
  • Food and beverage experience is strongly preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong client-facing skills and professional demeanor
  • Team player attitude and all-hands-on-deck approach
  • Ability to motivate and train a team
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Ability to adeptly manage multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced startup environment 
  • Comfort with publicly presenting to small groups 
  • Ability to work flexible hours which will frequently include evenings and weekends

Working Conditions

Working and venue locations will vary over the months of employment. Working

conditions will vary from venue to venue. Employee will be working directly with and around food products.
