Organic Apple Farm & Music Festival! Apple Acres Farm

Company description Apple Acres Farm is a certified organic u-pick fruit farm with a restaurant and farm store. We also host weddings and educational tours.

Separately, we also host one of the largest roots music festivals in New England, in late July, and apprentices get to work at both the farm and the festival!

  • Dates: May 1st - December 1st  
  • Compensation: $800/month plus housing and a weekly CSA, tips and bonuses TBD.
  • Days/week: 6, with 1 extra day off/month for independent project, plus a break between summer and fall seasons. OK to take time off for a family reunion etc. if necessary depending on dates.

Work is very diverse! This is a great job for anyone interested in running their own farm or business. Jobs include everything from planting trees, harvesting fruit, mowing, and composting, to marketing, wedding coordination, educating school groups, messes!) cooking, customer service, business management and analysis, cleaning & organizing, managing employees, and more. 

You will also get to work for about a month organizing our roots music festival, and you will get to do swap days working on other farms (veggies, flowers, animals, etc). You will have educational reading materials, and we will provide access to organic farming workshops at other farms throughout the term. 

You will share a single room loft with another apprentice. Typically there are 2-3 apprentices. We also take time when we can to kayak, swim, see live music, and have BBQs with the other farmers and apprentices in the valley. 

We are very welcoming of LGBTQ+ and folks from all walks of life. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed. We also ask that our employees are able to work without having access to their phones during the work day. You must be able to lift 50lbs, and we do not recommend this position for folks with physical disabilities or low tolerance of high energy/fast paced environments. We do recommend it for folks who want to dip their toes in the farming world and be part of a diverse community of folks in Maine making their own way in the world!
