Pear Plum Cafe is a neighborhood cafe serving high quality coffee drinks, house-made pastries, and delicious breakfast and lunch food. We also host private parties and our own food-inspired classes, dinners, and gatherings in collaboration with our sister business Each Peach Market.  We have a burgeoning retail section where we showcase original gifts and plants. Cafe Operations Responsibilities:

• Oversees day to day operations of Pear Plum Café
• Work as shift lead as needed
• Ensures highest levels of quality and consistency in all products served to customers
• Ensures high levels of customer service including greeting customers, taking orders, and serving orders
• Maintains high standards of organization and cleanliness throughout the cafe including in the back stock areas
• Maintains equipment in working order; troubleshooting problems and arranging for repairs
• Ensures all retail areas are properly stocked, inventoried, and attractively arranged
• Manages petty cash, cash tips distribution, and cash deposits

Staff Management Responsibilities 

• Assists with hiring of all staff
• Does the weekly schedule
• Plans shift huddles and staff meetings
• Assists with staff training
• Assists with developing new café systems
• Coordinates orders between Pear Plum Café and Each Peach Market
• Coordinates orders with outside vendors
• Ensures that all staff adhere to all food safety regulations including proper dress and hygiene

Business Performance Responsibilities: 

• Monitors and is accountable for overall business performance
• Participates in the senior leadership team meetings for Each Peach/Pear Plum business family 
• Works with Catering and Events Manager and senior leadership team to develop events calendar and to execute specific events 
• Works with Head of Kitchen and Deli and senior leadership team to develop and sustain the coffee and food programs with a focus on seasonal rotation of coffee, food, and specials. 
• Works with senior leadership team on development of retail area. 

Full time - Café Hours, weekends included

• Ability to stand for up to 8 hours at a time and lift up to 50lbs
• A flexible schedule: Ability to work weekends and evenings and holidays
• Proficient in Word and Excel, Google office tools (drive, docs, sheets)
• Experience managing shift staff and schedules
• Management experience in a food business
• Food Safety Manager Certification (DC Health Dept)
• Alcohol Beverage Manager license (DC ABRA)
