Carried Away Chefs is a boutique personal chef service catering to a high-end clientele throughout NYC. We provide in-home meal preparation for clients as well as custom events of all kinds, working from a centralized test kitchen and in client’s homes. With the every day hustle and bustle of NYC, our ultimate goal is to get families back to the dinner table to enjoy a convenient, delicious and stress-free way of eating together. We also do a range of customized events for anything from small intimate dinner parties, to larger scale engagement parties and corporate dinners.  Our focus is on seasonal and beautiful foods from local vendors that are worked into all of our client’s different preferences and dietary restrictions.

Job description

Carried Away Chefs is hiring talented and detail oriented cooks to join its team of culinary professionals.  This is not a freelance position but the chance to be a part of a growing company with a focus on career development and growth.  We are looking for a team player with strong communication skills who enjoys interacting with clients.

The primary role of the personal chef is to execute menus in client's homes, producing custom versions of Carried Away Chefs recipes, while using product and prep items sourced by our Culinary Production Team. The ideal candidate must be very efficient with their culinary techniques; adaptable and flexible, with the ability to execute recipes precisely and beautifully.

To become a part of our team, you must have a culinary education or professional culinary experience and have a passion for hospitality. A strong desire to develop efficient techniques and skills while working in a fast-paced growing food company is necessary.

 Qualifications:

  • Culinary education and or experience in a professional cooking setting
  • Ability to adapt to various dietary guidelines (Paleo, Gluten Free, Kosher, etc)
  • Willingness to wear many hats and perform other roles when needed
  • Ability to interpret and execute prep lists and recipes with minimal direction
  • Enjoys overcoming obstacles, problem solving and thinking on one’s feet
  • Ability to replicate platings and garnishes, and uphold standards when working alone
  • Working knowledge of event production for solo off-site events
  • Desire to build the Carried Away Brand with a supportive group of like-minded individuals
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Enthusiastic attitude
  • Ability to lift heavy items (up to 50lb) on a regular basis
  • Flexibility to work during peak periods and evening events
  • Willingness to learn and use company technology (software, apps, portals)
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
Compensation this position is : hourly, $15/hr + Application instructions
