The Center for Discovery is an educational, medical, and residential facility for children and adults with complex medical conditions, including Autism Spectrum Disorder located in the foothills of the Catskills. The Department of Nourishment Arts (DNA) is our dynamic, multidisciplinary food program which includes our team of nutritionists, chefs and farmers. At its core, is our 300 acre organic, biodynamic farm which not only provides nutritious food for our community, but a therapeutic learning environment for the individuals we care for.

Chef Cesare Casella and The Center for Discovery are looking for an energetic, organized and motivated individual with passion for the intersection between whole foods, health and agriculture to join our dynamic and multidisciplinary team as an administrative assistant. This unique full time position is a special opportunity to work directly to support the head of the department, Chef Cesare Casella, on a wide variety of projects – daily operations, special events, networking building, and small business development - as well as providing administrative support. Beyond his role as Chief of DNA, Chef Casella is an educator, author, restaurateur, salumi expert and owner of Casella’s Salumi. 

 

In addition to supporting Chef Casella with daily communications, scheduling, agenda management, events and travel planning, this position will also work closely with The Department of Nourishment Arts (DNA)’s team of chefs, farmers, and nutritionists to help realize our mission of providing optimal nutrition and engaging food experiences to individuals with developmental disabilities.  

 

We are seeking candidates who are organized, flexible, creative, and highly reliable. Excellent communication and writing skills are a must and ideal candidates should be well versed in social media networking platforms.

This position requires travel between Sullivan County, NY and New York City on a weekly basis. For this reason, candidates with a driver’s license are preferred.
