Dates: June 7th - August 23rd (some flexibility)

Berkshire Hills Eisenberg Camp, a residential children’s summer camp in located in Copake, NY, in the foothills of the Berkshires is seeking to fill the position of Head Chef for the summer 2020 season. The Head Chef will oversee the food production and dining hall service for three meals a day, seven days a week. The Head Chef will be overseen by and collaborate with the Food Service Director to ensure total food service operations meet the quality and expectations of the camp.

Detailed Work Activities:

• Manage up to 10 food service employees
• Oversee the production and service of 3 meals a day for 400 people
• Ensure food quality and food safety
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness, organization, and physical safety
• Maintain inventory
• Coordinate with Food Service Director for ordering necessary ingredients and supplies
• Oversee scheduling of food service employees
• Monitor worker performance
• Direct and coordinate activities of workers or staff
• Inspect facilities or equipment for regulatory compliance
• Check the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that standards are met
• Check the quantity and quality of received products
• Monitor sanitation practices to ensure that employees follow standards and regulations.
• Inspect supplies, equipment, and work areas to ensure conformance to established standards

Job Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in food preparation with at least 2 years in an institutional food service setting and management
• Serv Safe certified
• Ability to work well under pressure and follow directions
• Proven track record of following-through with commitments.
• Must have proven success with both leading and following in a team setting.
• Ability to interact positively with campers, families, and staff.
• Demonstrate optimism and flexibility
• Ability to receive constructive feedback, and improve from it
• Ability to perform physical duties, lift approx. 60 pounds
• Ability to communicate honestly, clearly, and calmly, in personal and professional settings
• Demonstrate healthy habits and safe behavior. ·
• Be committed to the safety and well-being of our campers and staff
• proven success meeting deadlines completing projects and exceeding expectations
• Be organized, punctual, and maintain good personal hygiene
• Past summer camp experience a plus
• Experience with kosher kitchens and dietary laws a plus





Work Hours and Schedule:

• Apx 60 hours per week
• Operating Hours 7am-9pm
• 1 day off per week
• 3 daily meal breaks
