Who we are:

Little Fox Kitchen is a recreational cooking school and culinary event space in Cranford, NJ. We offer hands-on cooking classes and host private and corporate events through cooking parties.

We are off to a great start this 2020 with classes booked months in advance and corporate events scheduled for the year. We have exciting upcoming culinary events - guest chefs' classes, cookbook authors' events, and re-launch of our culinary tours.

Who we are looking for and what the job entails:

 The Culinary Assistant sets up the class, assists and supports the Chef Instructor. Together, as a team, this position is vital in delivering a stellar cooking class or event.

We seek and value these skills:

• You have experience in culinary or service in the hospitality field. (A degree or certification is not required but helpful.)
• You have excellent time management skills - You are first on the floor and will be setting up the classroom before the chef instructor. The ability to do so properly in a timely fashion is extremely important. 
• You are adept in the kitchen – you are familiar with culinary terms, ingredients, units of measurements and understand scaling. You are comfortable using kitchen knives  and know what mise en place is.
• You are particular about organization and cleanliness. 
• You are methodical and deliberate in your movements. Being able to move with precision and wading through synchronized steps in setting up and breaking down the class is crucial. 
• Though we run in a recreational cooking class setting, we follow the concept of chef instructor is “chef.” You should be able to acknowledge his or her role and the responsibilities you are tasked to do and be able to lend the support.
• You have a great sense of service and hospitality and interact with the guests appropriately.
• You have flexibility in your schedule. You may assist as little as 1, or up to 4 classes a week, dependent on the class schedules and event bookings. Evening and weekend availability is a must.
• You have the commitment to keep your schedule.
• Classes run 3 hours maximum with 2 hours pre-prep and 1 hour for breakdown of classes- on average 6 hours . Most classes are in the evenings starting at 6:00 p.m or 6:30pm You will be required to come at least  2 hours before to prep and mise en place. We also host special events cooking parties, times in these events may vary.
• Physical stamina to be able to be on your feet for up to 6 hours straight and  lift up to 30 pounds

 We are located in Cranford NJ, and is a 5-minute walk from the Cranford train station. Accessible from New York Penn Station through the NJ Transit Train on the Raritan Valley or Northeast Corridor line.

Or by NJ Transit Bus 113 from Port Authority on 42nd St.

Compensation 
Paid hourly from $12 /hour for the trial period ( 4 runs) and then $15/hour after. Plus generous tips which ranges between $20 - $70 per class or event.
