We are looking for a full-time, highly organized, Head Baker with exceptional baking skills to manage the production and distribution of pastries. As the lead of a baking operation, head bakers must train and supervise workers and ensure  staff use proper baking techniques. Outside of the kitchen, head bakers maintain production and work schedules; assign daily baking tasks, keep inventory, and manage invoicing. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

The Head Baker is responsible for overseeing the wholesale bakery department, from ordering ingredients, to production and distribution, to invoicing the clients. The Head Baker will ensure pastries are consistent and of utmost quality by directing and supporting bakers throughout bake-off. They will coordinate staff time to optimize production and efficiency, while maintaining the integrity of the products. We are a startup company and all staff must come expecting to help out wherever needed. 
 

  • Schedule staff and create production schedule 
  • Supervise bakers and provide support / training 
  • Keep inventory and place orders
  • Source competitively priced quality ingredients 
  • Calculate production for the week based on orders
  • Send weekly invoices to clients 
  • Print daily packing slips and invoices 
  • Consistently monitor the cleanliness of entire kitchen, specially near and around mixer and ingredient bins, area must be kept impeccably clean
  • Bi-annual recipe testing and development


REQUIREMENTS 

  • Prior kitchen & baking experience 
  • Food Handlers License required
  • Love for hospitality + customer service
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to stand for long hours + able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Reliable, highly organized + detail oriented


COMPENSATION: $20/hour, 2 consecutive days off, 3 days paid vacation after 6 months, 2 additional paid vacation days at 12 months or (5 days after 1 year employment). Unpaid 30 minute meal breaks.
