Lead Catering Chef
Our lead catering chef must be someone with both the skills and mindset. We are looking for a capable chef with excellent cooking skills, an organizer who can handle all standard kitchen duties and someone with a positive attitude who enjoys working in a fast-growing company. We want a calm, efficient worker.
Duties Include (But Not Limited To):
*Menu planning and recipe testing (in collaboration with owner)
*Hiring, training and supervising kitchen staff in all culinary activities
*General kitchen management (incl., writing/updating prep lists, writing/updating recipes, maintaining events calendar)
*Set-up, organization and clean-up of food for catered events
*Management of kitchen staff (incl., assigning tasks, implementing deadlines to ensure on-time completion of work, evaluating staff performance)
*Purchase and conduct inventory/food costing as required
*Ensure high-quality preparation and presentation of menus in a timely manner
*Ensure compliance with health and safety codes (practice what you preach)
Additional Responsibilities May Include:
*Plan and implement meetings (with kitchen staff and owner)
*Direct off-site kitchen set-up, food preparation, presentation and break down
*Additional administrative tasks
Qualification Requirements
*3+ years experience as a chef leading and managing a kitchen preferably in high-volume, fine dining and/or luxury catering (incl., off-site catering)
*Professionally culinary trained
*Experience catering small and large gatherings in unique locations (from 20-300+)
*Detail oriented and highly organized
*Strong communication skills with the ability to lead (and practice what you preach)
*Positive attitude, self-directed, creative thinker
*Computer proficient (incl., G-Suite Documents, Spreadsheets and Calendar)
*Strong math skills
*Comfortable with fluctuating priorities and new initiatives as they arise
*Ability to prioritize tasks and needs in the absence of direction
*Requires the ability to learn and maintain related culinary knowledge
*Must have a flexible schedule, willing to work some long days/some short days and weekends
*Must have food handlers card
*Reports directly to business owner
Compensation this position is : salaried, varies DOE, $50,000.00 - $75,000.00 Application instructions
