Management Duties
- Manage the store: both front of house and behind the scenes
- Recruiting, interviewing, hiring, developing, and managing staff
- Creating employee schedules, assigning schedules and responsibilities to employees, checking to see if these responsibilities and assignments are carried through in the store
- Training new employees and providing ongoing education for employees
- Evaluating staff based on performance-based metrics
- Setting criteria for staff, such as sales performance and customer approval or complaints
- Giving staff financial goals and sales targets to meet on a scheduled basis
- Helping to create advertising campaigns for attracting new customers and retaining current customers and helping to create both in and outside store promotions for attracting customers
- Assist in the implementation of new systems
Retail Duties
- Complete customer transactions quickly and efficiently using a POS system
- Display market goods, including a wide array of fresh produce, in an attractive and creative manner
- Receive deliveries of inventory and price, merchandise, and restock
- Order from specific distributors on a weekly basis
- Research new products, makers, farmers, etc., to keep our store filled with the best local products
- Open and close register independently
- Marketing via social media, signage, and event planning
- Maintain a clean and welcoming interior and exterior of the market
- Strive to build knowledge of products in each department of the store
- Assist in the implementation of new systems
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in food/grocery related retail and customer service
- Minimum of 2 years of experience managing staff
- Experience & knowledge with handling produce, foods, plants, and beverages
- Knowledge and experience with local food system, agriculture, and food seasonality
- Ability to self-manage as well as manage others on a daily basis
- Desire to interact with the public and create relationships
- Ability to manage time efficiently
- Positive attitude, excellent communication skills
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to quickly evolving systems
- Attention to passion for details and aesthetic
- Ability to move quickly during peak hours
- Must be willing to work one weekend day
Compensation:
$15.50/hour for the first two months. Negotiable yearly salary $33,280-$37,000 (depending on experience) after 2-month intro period. One-week paid vacation per year. Employee discount & vegetable seconds. Start date no later than March 20th, 2020.
