Job description

Eagle’s Nest Foundation in Western North Carolina is seeking a full time Whole Foods Program Manager (WFPM) to oversee the development and management of our from-scratch food program for Eagle’s Nest Camp and The Outdoor Academy, an academic semester school for 10th grade students. Our food program at Eagle’s Nest focuses on creating nutritious, wholesome meals and teaching campers and students about healthy living and sustainable practices.

Eagle’s Nest maintains a modest but vibrant two-acre garden that helps provide produce and herbs for our Garden to Table program. The WFPM should be enthusiastic about providing care and nutrition through food and should also be eager to share their knowledge of food preparation and healthy nutrition.

For the summer season, the WFPM will recruit, train and manage a staff of approximately 7 cooks and a baker to feed approximately 200 campers and staff members. During the school year, the WFPM will work with a part time cook to prepare meals for approximately 45 students and faculty members of The Outdoor Academy. Throughout the year, primary responsibilities include hiring, oversight, and management of kitchen staff, menu planning (including the use of garden produce), meal preparation, serving as the head chef during the school year, teaching food safety and sanitation procedures, ensuring adherence to NC Health Code standards, budgeting, purchasing, and  inventory.


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
