Stars of the Meadow flower farm offers locally and sustainably grown specialty cut flowers and foliage to florists, event designers, retailers and DIY Wedding couples in the mid Hudson Valley of NY state. Inspired by permaculture, biodynamics, and regenerative agriculture, we grow over 60 seasonal varieties of lush, vibrant blooms, foliage, and herbs on just under one women-powered acre.
Job description
Stars of the Meadow flower farm is looking for a robustly hard working farm hand for 20 hrs/week, over 2-3 weekdays. Starting April 15th- Oct 30th on this 1 acre, woman owned no-till flower farm in Accord. LGBTQ, BIPOC friendly.
Requirements:
-Physical strength (ability to lift 50 lbs) good tolerance of heat, bugs, rain
-Some farm experience preferred but not necessary
-Ability to start early in the morning
-Preference for vigorous physical work
-Great communication skills, acceptance of feedback and willingness to be part of a fast paced and efficient small team
-Ability to keep pace while working independently
-Available Tues -Thurs, with Thursday a must
Tasks include:
-Bed prep
-Planting
-Irrigation maintenance
-Harvesting, processing
-Occasional bouquet assembly/packaging.
Compensation:
-Decent pay (depending on experience) inquire
-Lots of flowers to take home.
